FAMILIES SAY...
Kaia is an incredible person. She not only helped me a lot in a difficult situation, through her I had the possibility of a natural birth. I would have never thought it would be possible that midwives like her existed. She is incredibly competent and her professionalism cannot be surpassed. I could always turn to her with my questions and uncertainties and she helped me so much. You can feel how much she is there with her heart.
I actually preferred a solo birth, as I never thought I could even begin to focus on my body and let go in the presence of a midwife and trust a person so much. Kaia convinced me otherwise and she was so incredibly empathetic, guiding me without being even remotely overbearing or making me feel like I couldn't, and she exuded such calm and security that I felt no fear whatsoever.
Due to my self-doubt and my last traumatic birth, I wasn't sure if my body was capable of giving birth naturally. Kaia motivated me in such a loving and honest way and gave me the confidence that my body is capable. I’m so glad she was there. Having experienced this natural birth - without time pressure, panic and pressure - healed me from the trauma of the last birth, gave me more confidence in my body and meant so much to me. I am so incredibly grateful that she was my midwife. ~Mama Maria, 2022

South Shore Midwives are the best! I recently delivered my baby with SSM and had a terrific experience. They are caring, thoughtful, calm, and knowledgeable.
I knew I was in good hands from my very first appointment. It is clear how passionate Rochel and Kaia are about helping women through pregnancy, labor and beyond. They always made time for my questions and made me feel comfortable. Because of Rochel and Kaia, my pregnancy and delivery were amazing. I will definitely continue to go to South Shore Midwives in the future and would recommended them to anyone looking for attentive, compassionate care. ~Mama Rebecca, 2020

If you are looking to have your dream birth, then look no further. I was referred to Rochel and Kaia and I couldn’t be more grateful. From the very first phone call through postpartum the level of care and concern I received is second to none.
Each visit we sat together and I knew I could ask anything and I would be answered. I was able to have the birth that I envisioned and Rochel and Kaia made that possible. I couldn’t recommend them more. ~Mama Elana, 2020

Kaia is a wonderful, warm, knowledgeable and caring person. During every step of my pregnancy, the delivery, and the postpartum phase, I could trust her. Based on her experience as a doula and her knowledge as a training midwife, she answered all my questions. During our prenatal discussions she was knowledgeable but kept an open mind if our positions differed.
Having her with us during labor at home and at the hospital was very supportive for me and my husband. She was able to calm me down, and she provided emotional support to my husband by giving us clear instructions on what to do during labor. My 2nd labor was much faster than my 1st one: without Kaia, I probably would have given birth in a cab. It was her decision to drive to a hospital closer to our home. For that my husband and I are utterly thankful. ~Mama Susi, 2017

Kaia helped us get back on our feet after our 2 month old had a health scare and a week long hospital stay. She gave us back the confidence to trust our instincts and gave us great tips on how to get back in tune with our baby. During our time with her our son developed a soy and dairy allergy and she was instrumental in helping us figure out my new diet so I could still breastfeed. She also helped my husband and I communicate better with each other about our needs as parents and partners. She gave us ideas on how to be more organized so little annoyances with each other didn't build up! She felt like a friend right away and we miss seeing her weekly! ~Papa Josh & Mama Suzanne, 2017

Kaia was with me for every step of my 36-hour labor – even obtaining a power of attorney for her home closing so that she could stay with my husband and me. She was unrelenting in her emotional and physical support, coaching and encouraging me with warmth, empathy and assertiveness (when I needed it)! I wanted to have a natural childbirth, and her calm presence and knowledge put me at ease and empowered me to make mindful decisions throughout the delivery. ~Mama Alexis, 2016

My initial impression of Kaia was that she expresses confidence in what she does but doesn't try to sell herself excessively. I think the biggest impact that she had on me was the emotional component which empowered me physically to be able to give birth without interventions. I have been fearful of labor almost all my life and I NEVER imagined that I would be able to go through it without some sort of pain medications. I felt empowered and I felt that I could embrace the strength that is given for a woman to be able to deal with something that is difficult and yet rewarding at the same time. ~Mama Peony, 2016

Kaia's postpartum care was even more crucially important to my recovery than her labor care. She was an absolute life-saver. From her soul satisfying bone broth to her counseling on breast milk and even bringing donor milk for me when I was having issues producing - I could turn to her for any questions or concern postpartum and she was immediately there with help or advice or referrals. ~Mama Naila, 2014
